Description
This immersive didactic/hands-on workshop and high-fidelity simulation provide the latest techniques and technology surrounding all forms of ECLS Transport including novel educational models. Through various multilevel, simple and advanced clinical scenarios, we will apply the knowledge gained in the understanding and managing children transported on ECLS utilizing high fidelity mannequins and educational modalities delivered by international, experienced world class facilitators.

Goals and aims
The goal of the training is to 1) acquire advance knowledge and competencies in managing children on ECLS Transport, and 2) develop adequate multidisciplinary teamwork skills to manage children on ECLS Transport.
Learning outcomes:
- Learn about the different transport modes used in neonatal and pediatric ECLS transport and their specific challenges
- Altitude physics and aeromedicine
- Learn about working environment and risk situations during transport
- Discuss and learn to handle the logistical aspects of ECLS transport including preparation, planning, and communication
- To become familiar with dedicated transport equipment
- To troubleshoot and solve complications/adverse events during neonatal and pediatric ECLS transport in high-fidelity simulation practices
- Overview of legislation and insurance aspects of international transport

VENUE and ACCOMMODATION
The course fee of EUR 1.500/participant includes the attendance to comprehensive course programme and accommodation for two nights at a four star hotel in Leicester.
Day 1 Wednesday 10th September starts at ~ 13:00 and ends with a course dinner at the hotel. The first afternoon will be filled with lectures, among others: History of ECMO transports, altitude physics and aeromedicine, types of ECMO transports, primary transport-cannulation techiques, ECLS transport concepts, ethical challenges and crew resource management.
Day 2 Thursday 11th September and Day 3 Friday 12th September finish at ~ 17:00 are whole days with simulation practices in two groups of 6 alternated with lectures for 12 participants. Simulations will be conducted by international experts and simulation staff from different EuroELSO ECMO Centres and the ECMO Centre in University Hospitals of Leicester.
Experienced in the two transport modes offered during course: Road and Air.
Educational lectures and discussions will be led by speakers representing ESPNIC, EuroELSO and ECMO Centre in University Hospitals of Leicester.
